Day 1: Left Ames around 5am. At 9/10am, I "popped" a dramamine. (Car sickness/motion sickness...whatever, I just don't do well in the back seat of a car for a long period of time.) I spent, probably, 7-8 hours out of the 10 hour drive...sleeping. Solid. And was in bed at 7pm the night we arrived (8pm Iowa time).
Upon arrival, we were showed our room...the view...AMAZING.
Day 2: The real fun began!
The AM started off with a visit to the sister gym of the CrossFit gym we go to in Iowa, in Frisco, CO.
Post-workout, we headed back to get ready to head to Copper Mountain.
Mind you, I've never skied before. Nope, not ever. So I took a lesson...it was great!
Before heading to the lesson, Taryn showed me some quick tricks with the skis!
She let me go with my group. Good thing I wasn't the only one that hadn't ever skied before in my lesson group. WHEW. They shuttled us via snowmobile (they're technically called something else, but this makes the picture easier) with a shuttle on the back.
The group classes were pretty small...ranging from 6 to 8 people. The instructors were in all red.
Mid-lesson #celfie
While I thought I would be the "run away" beginner (as in, I couldn't ski for the life of me or control it), I did pretty dang awesome! To be boastful, top 1-2 in my class, I'd say. HAHA! :)
After the lesson, we headed home to get ready for a sushi dinner! I was expecting to sit in a CHAIR at a table, but then walked into the room they directed us to and you take off your jacket and shoes, and sit on the floor on a bunch of pillows!
Seriously, HOW COOL IS THAT?!
Then you mark off what you'd like to order on a sheet of paper and they take it away and bring whatever rolls are ready.
The last was probably the most epic...I give you "MOUNT VESUVIUS!" Yes, that is a skateboard!
While, I'm still working on my "sushi liking" skills, I'd have to admit, this was legit.
Collin & I cannot thank the Duchene's for allowing us to ride out with them...let alone, inviting us! And the Ante's for hosting and taking care of us. We are so lucky to know such awesome and welcoming people.
Here's to Day 3! And the Superbowl...I guess!
